In many cases it can be useful to provide an attachment with your forum post. For example a log file, a picture, or a screen shot. The attachment may be uploaded via this page. When the upload succeeds it gets an ID assigned. You can refer to it in your forum post (in markdown) using [log file](/ext/attachment?id=12345). If the attachment is an image, you can place it inline in your forum post (in markdown) using .
Please be conservative with uploading screen shots. If you want to show the messages being exchanged, upload a log as a text file, not a screen shot of the OTMonitor log tab. First of all, such a screen shot would probably not show enough messages to be useful. Second, it can't be processed by any tools that analyze the messages.
As a protection against spammers trying to dump irrelevant files, you will have to be logged in to upload an attachment. Since that is a requirement to be able to post to the forum anyway, it should not be much of an inconvenience for legitimate users.
